Can someone with ADHD improve their self-esteem and live a happy life?

Yes! It’s more than possible for someone with ADHD to improve low self-esteem and live a normal life. With professional guidance and support, both children and adults can alleviate many of the symptoms of ADHD. Ultimately, therapy gifts you with a greater capacity to manage the activities of everyday life that are more challenging when living with ADHD.

Is therapy alone sufficient for ADHD treatment?

In many cases, learning the skills necessary to manage ADHD can be enough to end your struggle and live a happy life. However, a doctor may prescribe medication in combination with therapy to help manage the symptoms of ADHD, depending on the severity. Regardless, research suggests that even if you are treating ADHD with medication, combining it with counseling is the best approach.

Can I be diagnosed with ADHD by a therapist?

Yes, our therapists have been specifically trained and certified to diagnose ADHD. We take special care to provide proper diagnoses for all mental health issues by conducting diagnostic tests (including personal interviews) to determine client care (the range of ADHD treatment, type of ADHD treatment, and recommended follow-up). Often symptoms of one disorder can appear similar to another, for example, the symptoms of ADHD and trauma; therefore, undergoing a professional diagnosis is crucial to receiving the correct form of therapy.

Is there a difference between ADD (Attention deficit disorder) and ADHD?

Technically, ADD is an outdated term, and ADHD is the current official term. Both terms describe attention deficit disorders, but ADHD is the updated and more comprehensive terminology. While ADD refers to attention difficulties without hyperactivity, today, we use ADHD Inattentive Type for the same symptoms.

Is Adult ADHD something that can be “cured?”

ADHD is not something that can be “cured,” but it can be managed. Through proper diagnosis, treatment, medication, and therapy, individuals can learn to control the symptoms of their ADHD and live a happy life.
