“I believe you are the expert in your own life. Therapy is a collaborative space where we can slow down, make meaning of your experiences, and gently explore the stories, losses, relationships, and identities that have shaped you. Together, we can create room for healing, self-compassion, and change—at a pace that honors your nervous system, your creativity, and your whole self.”

More About Carolyn
My work is rooted in collaboration, curiosity, and respect for your lived experience. I aim to meet you where you are and walk alongside you in a way that supports healing, self-compassion, and meaningful, sustainable change.
My approach is integrative and grounded in trauma-informed, person-centered care. I draw from narrative therapy, Adlerian theory, attachment-based and somatic approaches, as well as grief and loss work. Rather than positioning myself as an authority on your experience, I take on the role of facilitator—supporting you in noticing patterns, untangling stories that may no longer feel aligned, and identifying areas where you may want to build momentum or invite change. Our work together moves at a pace that honors your nervous system and respects the complexity of your experiences.
As an art therapist, I incorporate creative expression into therapy when it feels supportive. Art-making can provide access to emotions, memories, and experiences that may be difficult to reach through words alone. The process is always more important than the final product, and no artistic experience is required. Creativity becomes one of many tools we can use to deepen insight, expand emotional awareness, and foster healing in an embodied and accessible way.
The therapeutic relationship itself serves as a safe holding space to explore present and past stressors, trauma, grief, attachment experiences, cultural and intersectional identities, spirituality, and the many internal and external factors that influence how you move through the world. I strive to offer an affirming, compassionate environment where all parts of you are welcome.
I am originally from Indianapolis, Indiana, and creativity has long been central to my life. I earned my BFA in Photography and Film from VCUarts in Richmond, Virginia, before pursuing clinical mental health counseling and art therapy in Seattle. While photography is my primary medium, I enjoy working across a range of artistic materials and view creative expression as a powerful pathway to connection and self-understanding.
Outside of the therapy space, I enjoy visiting art museums, seeing live music, being outdoors, traveling whenever possible, and spending time with friends and family. I was adopted as an infant, and in 2020 I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes—experiences that have deepened my understanding of identity, resilience, and the ongoing process of identity formation. These lived experiences inform my passion for working with individuals navigating chronic illness, grief, loss, and major life transitions.
I look forward to the possibility of working together and supporting you in your healing process.
