Online Counseling has gained in momentum and popularity in recent years because of its effectiveness and convenience.
Online counseling services allow you to access mental health virtually anywhere in Washington state. Now more than ever, online therapy is the best way to support our clients.
During this time of social distancing due to COVID-19, you can still safely access mental health services online.
We use a video telehealth platform designed specifically for telemedicine, which safeguards your personal information in a way that other popular video platforms such as Skype or FaceTime cannot.
Why we use the telehealth platform Doxy.me
- Confidential
- HIPPA compliant, and
- Very easy to use
There is no download required just click the link https://doxy.me/altcollective and you will find yourself in our virtual waiting room. When it is time for our session to begin, I will connect you to our private online session.
There are several benefits to online counseling.
Online sessions can be just as effective as meeting in person with some added benefits:
You can schedule an appointment without having to add driving time to your busy schedule.
You are able to log on from the comfort of your home, office, or anywhere else you may be.
If you have internet access, you can limit your exposure to illness during this state of emergency.

Couples therapy can also be just as effective online.
You can choose to share a screen, or we can meet with split screens which allows us to meet even when you can’t be in the same location.
Online counseling makes my services available to anyone living in the state of Washington, where I am licensed to practice as a psychotherapist. No longer is it necessary to live within driving distance of Seattle.
I have been offering individual therapy and couples therapy online for several years and many clients report that for them it is therapeutically the same as coming into the office, and meeting online is much easier because it requires less time out of their busy days. I believe that online therapy can be equally effective as an in-person session if you have a private space where you can have your session without interruption. Especially for those who are not entirely confident in the topic they would like to discuss, such as those exploring their sexuality and they’re not sure how to feel, online therapy can provide a sense of security that is otherwise unavailable.
Online counseling is not appropriate for individuals with significant psychiatric issues because I would not be able to provide emergency support for a mental health crisis if we are not in the same city.
If you have any questions about how online counseling works, or if you would like to schedule a test call to see if online therapy is a good fit for you please give us a call. We are happy to schedule a test call or answer any of your questions.
