Rebecca Rios, MS, LMHCA

Individual and Couples Therapist

Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate

WA License #MC61366140

“My therapeutic approach is eclectic and person-centered, which means that our time together will be highly dependent on the uniqueness you bring to the room. As a psychodynamically oriented therapist, I believe each person carries an accumulation of core beliefs, coping mechanisms, and implicit assumptions, which have been gathered throughout a lifetime of experiences. My goal is to partner with you on a journey of self-discovery, self-knowing, self-compassion, healing, and acceptance. I invite you to come as you are with curiosity, openness, and safety as we work together to find wholeness and meaning.”

More About Rebecca

I am passionate about healing the whole self and getting to the root of core injuries from the past and understanding how it is affecting your present. I am equally passionate about helping you build toward a desired future by identifying your strengths, capacities, values, and intrinsic motivations. You might be surprised to discover how common it is for us to live according to other people’s values, which means we are not living authentically. Identifying these core components is the first step to embedding them in your daily life and living according to your values and strengths.

Therapy is a unique experience for each individual seeking it, which requires me to be attentive and responsive to your needs. As we get to know each other, we will create a therapeutic roadmap together. I draw from disciplines ranging from Positive Psychology, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Bowenian Family Therapy, Attachment Theory, Bibliotherapy, mindfulness meditation, and more.

I moved to Washington state from California and once my kids were old enough, I went back to school to pursue my studies. For the past 7 years I have worked in a variety of mental health settings ranging from hospitals, community clinics, and Autism treatment centers. My diverse experience with different populations has also afforded me experience with different treatment modalities.

My favorite way to de-stress is making time to go for nature walks among the trees with my kids. The fresh air and greenery are instant balms to my senses. We are surrounded by awe-inspiring beauty every day and I never tire of it. If I’m not outside in nature, I love hunkering down at home and being cozy while I read, watch movies, play games, and enjoy family dinners.
