More About Jasmine

I approach therapy by collaborating with my clients to create a treatment plan that is customized for your needs. I integrate a variety of methodologies into my approach, with the goal of providing interventions that are culturally appropriate and honor your identities. I completed my Master of Arts in Counseling, with an emphasis in marriage, family and child counseling, from Palo Alto University. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate, and am currently working towards full licensure.

I am also a Board-Certified Music Therapist, and I am able to integrate the use of music into treatment plans as needed or desired. Music can be a powerful way of processing and working through emotions. My professional career began as a music therapist in hospice and bereavement services. I used music therapy as a way to help individuals make sense of their terminal illness, create legacies for their families, and process their grief and loss. As a mental health counselor, I continue to specialize in helping individuals work through grief-related issues such as chronic or terminal illness, bereavement, family estrangement, or any other existential crisis you may be going through. We can either use talk therapy alone, or in conjunction with music therapy interventions.

Another one of my specialty areas is trauma counseling. EMDR is one evidence-based approach I utilize to help individuals heal from traumatic experiences. I am trained in using EMDR, and am working towards becoming EMDR certified. I provide EMDR for individuals who have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences, sexual abuse, and complicated grief. If EMDR is not for you, we can use other trauma-focused talk therapy approaches, such as narrative therapy or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

In addition to grief-related issues and trauma, I also have been trained to provide counseling for a wide variety of other needs. I provide individual therapy, couples counseling, and family therapy to help with relationship issues, family conflict, mood disorders, anxiety, and stress. I may integrate concepts from EMDR, CBT, person-centered therapy, existential philosophies, Internal Family Systems, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, music therapy, the Gottman Method, emotion-focused couples counseling, Bowenian philosophies, and strategic family therapy. We will collaborate together to decide which approach is best for your personality and your needs. I am excited to work with you!
