More About Brenda

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), my approach to therapy focuses on providing my clients a non-judgmental, collaborative, and inclusive space where they are the expert in their experience and the author of their story. In this space, clients increase their capacity to give themselves permission to accept themselves and their experience, increase vulnerability so they can express their authentic selves, and feel empowered to pursue and advocate for their desires to improve their connection to themselves and others. I support clients by deconstructing unhelpful beliefs or expectations adopted through interactions with society, family, and other spheres of influence and creating new narratives that better consider a person’s desires, experience, and values.

I specialize in providing support to adult individuals and folks in intimate relationships experiencing challenges with depression, complex trauma, relationship dissatisfaction, communication, infidelity, and sexual intimacy. I am trained in sex therapy approaches and working to become an AASECT certified sex therapist to support folks of all gender and sex identities struggling with shame and other sexual concerns. I utilize the following approaches and tailor interventions to meet clients’ needs: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Gottman Method Couple Therapy, and EMDR. I provide EMDR to support folks struggling with depression, childhood trauma, sexual abuse, and other sexual concerns such as vaginismus and sexual shame. I am also bilingual and can conduct sessions in Spanish.

Additionally, I identify as a young millennial, hetero-fluid, first-generation, Mexican woman in a committed monogamous relationship. I am a Southern California native, after having immigrated from Mexico City at the age of 3 and relocated to Seattle in 2021. My therapy is influenced by my growth mindset and unapologetic desire to be authentic and pursue pleasure wherever possible while respecting others’ boundaries and capacities. I am passionate about transformation and empowerment through acceptance, communication, and choice!
